SS-06 Vermin and Pest Control (the standard in full):

“A written control plan addresses vermin and pest control. The control plan includes at a minimum: • monthly inspection by a licensed exterminator • an extermination schedule • documentation of inspection reports and treatment”

“Process Indicators: Written control plan. Pest control contracts. Maintenance agreements. Inspection reports, including documentation that identified deficiencies were corrected.”

What It Means in Plain Language

1. A written plan, with three required parts. Monthly inspection by a licensed exterminator, a schedule, and documentation of both inspection reports and treatment.
2. Proof of correction, not just service. The process indicators ask for inspection reports “including documentation that identified deficiencies were corrected.” A stack of service tickets does not meet that on its own. The file has to show the deficiency, the correction, and the date.

Who It Applies To

New Mexico adult detention facilities in the New Mexico Government Accreditation Program, as the manual describes. Whether any New Mexico statute or rule requires the same of every county jail was not verified for this page.
